| Near Kreamer the standoff with police ended with an armed gunman being shot & killed. State police identified him as 45-y/o Kayre Snyder & said he lived in the home. Police fired a single shot that killed Snyder around 5am this morning. The situation began around 2:30pm yesterday & for hours, roads in & around Snyder's house in Middlecreek Twp., near Middlesburg were closed off. Neighbors weren't allowed back in their homes until just a short time ago. Police say they tried communicating for hours for the gunman, trying to get him to surrender peacefully. Officers learned the suspect was armed & had plenty of ammunition. Investigators said at one point, Snyder opened his front door & that's why a sniper fired the deadly shot. There were 3 hostages inside the home, according to police. They were unhurt. Police have not described the relationship between Snyder & the hostages or what caused the situation. |
