| (DI) A ribbon cutting has been set on Aug. 7 for Mifflinburg’s newly renovated wastewater treatment plant, as the 2-year Wastewater Treatment Plant Biological Nutrient Removal Construction Project nears completion. Mifflinburg Borough Council settled on the date at its council meeting last week during a discussion with an HRG Engineering representative, as the project is now in its final stages of construction & the last “punch list” of items that need to be completed has been delivered to the contractors working on the project. The need for an upgrade became apparent after an evaluation from Paragon Engineering performed on the 95-y/o wastewater treatment plant led to the DEP placing a moratorium on the plant due to overflow problems. The $15 million upgrade to the plant that began in 2008 was funded by a combination of borough money, loans from PennVest and state grants. |
